Twelve places, one box, one boat, every Tuesday morning.
Before a phone goes in, four things happen on the counter in front of you, and they happen in the same order every single time. It is photographed on both sides. Its condition is written on a slip, scratches included, because a phone coming back marked should never turn into an argument between two people who both think they are right. It goes into a bag with your reference on it. And the box is weighed and its contents listed before it is sealed.
That list is the reason we sleep. In four years nothing has gone missing, and if it ever does we will know exactly what was in the box, what it looked like and what it weighed.
The box goes at eight on Tuesday whatever else is happening, which means a phone handed in on Tuesday afternoon waits a week. We will tell you that at the counter rather than take the phone and let you assume.
