What we do
Everything we offer, with a page for each so you can see what is involved.
Grade eight: the year everybody starts
Six classes, students arriving from five different schools, and a first term spent finding out what each of them actually knows.
Grades nine and ten: the three streams
Science, commerce or general, chosen at the end of grade eight, with four subjects common to all three.
Grades eleven and twelve: four combinations
Physical sciences, life sciences, business, or humanities and languages, in groups of twelve to eighteen.
The two laboratories and the practical work
A physics and chemistry laboratory, a biology room, one technician, and rules that are not negotiable.
The hostel: sixty four students, Sunday to Thursday
Two blocks, three wardens living on site, four roll calls a day, and a place a parent two hours away can trust.
The supervised study hall
Open six nights a week to every student, not only boarders, with a teacher on duty and no telephones in the room.
The careers desk and what comes after grade twelve
One teacher, two afternoons a week, and the information an island student does not otherwise get.
Examinations, timetables and this school as a centre
Term examinations, three practice papers in the senior years, and the days the school is an examination centre for the eastern islands.
