The youngest group trains twice a week for an hour, in groups of twelve with one coach each.
Almost everything is played in small games of three against three or four against four, with a ball each for the first twenty minutes. There are no full sided matches, no positions, and no goalkeeper for the whole session. A six year old put in goal spends fifty minutes watching.
What we are teaching at this age is comfort on the ball and the habit of trying things. A child who will take the ball into a tight space and lose it has learned something more useful than a child who passes backwards every time because losing it is discouraged.
We do not select at this age and we do not stream. Children develop at wildly different rates between six and nine, and a squad chosen at seven is a squad that has thrown away half its best players by eleven.
Fees are four hundred and fifty rufiyaa a month. Sessions are at four in the afternoon, which is the coolest hour we can put a six year old on turf.
