We travel to schools and islands for coaching weeks, most often during school holidays and in the two weeks before an interschool competition.
A visit is two coaches for five days, sessions for up to a hundred and twenty children in groups of twelve, and two evenings with whoever is going to coach them after we leave. That second part is the whole point. A week of good sessions that stops when the boat leaves is entertainment; a week that leaves two teachers with a term of session plans they can actually run is coaching.
We charge a fee per day plus travel and accommodation, and we have run these for councils, schools and two atoll sports associations. Where a school cannot fund it we will say what a realistic smaller version looks like rather than turning it down.
We do not run trials on these visits and we do not recruit children away from their island. We have been asked to and we think it is the wrong thing to do to a twelve year old.
