The community hall behind the ward office seats one hundred and eighty and is the ward's busiest asset.
Funerals and anything the mosque committee arranges have first call and pay nothing. School and street committee use is free. A wedding or family occasion is three hundred rufiyaa a day. A class, club or private course is one hundred rufiyaa an evening, and about nine run every week.
The diary is at the desk and anybody may look at it. Bookings for the two weeks after Ramadan open on the first of the preceding month and are usually gone in four days, which the ward has stopped apologising for and now simply announces.
Equipment: two hundred chairs, ten tables and a sound system. Chairs and tables free to ward households. Sound system one hundred rufiyaa with somebody to set it up.
The two play areas are on Ranna Magu and behind the mosque, open from dawn until ten at night, lit until ten, and inspected by the crew every Sunday. The equipment log is at the desk. Anything broken should be reported the same day, and the ward would rather close a swing for a week than leave it.
Ball games in the smaller play area were stopped after two years of complaints from the houses beside it, which is an unpopular decision the ward has kept and explains at every meeting.
