Collection in this ward is done by the city's contractor, not by the ward, and only in the ward issued bags. This catches people who have moved in from elsewhere in the city, where the arrangement is different street by street.
Bags: sold at the ward desk and at nine shops in the ward, four rufiyaa each, in two sizes. The price is set by the city and the ward takes nothing on them.
Collection: six evenings a week, Saturday to Thursday, between eight and eleven at night. Put the bag out after seven. A bag on the footpath at four in the afternoon is open before the lorry arrives, and a footpath in this ward is narrow enough that it matters.
Not collected: rubble, furniture, mattresses, air conditioning units, batteries, oil, tyres and garden waste in quantity. The contractor takes a load by arrangement at two hundred and fifty rufiyaa, booked at the desk, and the desk does the booking rather than making you find the contractor.
What the ward can do about a missed collection: log it, and give the contractor the street and the date. Three logged misses in a month on the same street goes to the city with the ward's note, and that has twice produced a change to the round.
What the ward cannot do: change the collection hours, the bag price or the contract. Those are the city's.
