Internal flush doors, panelled doors, frames, architraves and door furniture.
A flush door in blockboard with a laminate or sprayed finish is from 1,900 rufiyaa. A hardwood frame is from 850 a set, and hanging is 350 a door including the ironmongery fitting.
Doors are the job where the difference between a workshop and a shop shows most clearly. A door bought off a shelf comes in one size, and no opening in an older Malé house is that size. We measure every opening, and in a house with six doors it is normal for all six to be different by ten or twenty millimetres. Making them to the opening is cheaper than trimming standard doors, because a trimmed flush door loses its lipping and then the edge is exposed board.
For a bathroom door, the frame is hardwood rather than softwood and the bottom rail is sealed, because the floor is wet twice a day and a softwood frame lifts and swells at the foot within three years.
We hang and adjust rather than deliver. A door that catches in six months is a door that was hung in a frame nobody packed properly, and coming back to adjust it is included.
