Waste collection and the household fee

Three mornings a week, household by household, with a monthly fee of forty rufiyaa and a separate arrangement for building waste.

Collection is Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting at half past six at the harbour end and finishing at the west side by about nine.

Put the bag out before six. A bag left out in the afternoon is open by nightfall and the crows do the rest, which is how most of the mess on Bodu Magu happens.

Kitchen waste, bottles and tins go together. Garden waste is collected on Thursday only. Building rubble, old furniture, mattresses and anything a man cannot lift alone are not on the round at all: ring the office and the tractor is arranged for a separate charge of one hundred and fifty rufiyaa a load.

The household fee is forty rufiyaa a month, payable at the counter or by transfer, and the year may be paid at once in January. A household that is genuinely unable to pay should come and say so to the secretary rather than simply not paying, and we will deal with it quietly.
