Three hundred shirts for a primary school, asked for eleven days before the term started, which is exactly the situation we normally refuse.
We took it because of how it was organised. Instead of a list of three hundred names and measurements, we sent two people to the school for an afternoon and measured every child in one go, then built five sizes from the spread and made the eight children at the extremes individually. Five sizes is nine cutting operations. Three hundred individual patterns is three hundred, and it is why this kind of order usually arrives late.
The sample went to the school on day two and came back approved on day three with one change: the pocket was moved up an inch because the original sat below the belt line on the smallest size.
Delivered in nine days, bundled by class rather than by size, which the office asked for and which saved them a day of sorting. Eleven shirts came back for alterations in the first month, which on three hundred garments is a number we are content with.
