A complaint here means anything you want the council to look into, including something the council itself did.
How it works. Bring it to the counter or send it through the form. It is written down in the complaints book with a number, and you get that number before you leave or by reply. Within five working days somebody tells you what is happening with it, even when the answer is that it is still being looked at.
Complaints about a member of staff go to the secretary. Complaints about a council member or about a council decision go on the agenda of the next meeting, which is the only honest way to handle them, and you may attend.
What a reference number is actually for: it means the next person you speak to can see the whole file rather than asking you to start again. Keep it.
We do not keep anonymous complaints out of the book, but we can act on far less of one. If you would rather your name were not read out in a meeting, say so and it will not be.
